I can't say I have a lot of conversations about politics with neighbors. But just reading around online it seems that the counter-argument from the DNC against Trump revolved around J6 and his apparent anti-American attitude toward the election outcome. They actually had former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger giving a speech at the DNC just to state “How can a party claim to be patriotic if it idolizes a man who tried to overthrow a free and fair election?” - essentially, the main argument for the Democratic party, is don't vote Trump, because democracy.
But that take from you and Kirk regarding the two Dem voters is spot on.
You just did what I never experience: you presented an actual pov! I don’t even get that much. It’s weird. And kinda scary the lack of thought. Strange times!
Yea I thought that observation was really insightful from Charlie Kirk. High trust vs low trust for institutions. That’s a big deal.
I think that’s also connected to how you’re doing personally… Are these institutions benefiting you or do you feel targeted by them or ignored by them… I think for the very wealthy of the country nothing really has changed… And same thing goes for the very poor, dependent class nothing much has changed… But in the middle class life has changed drastically… And I think for that group of people institutional trust is at an all-time low?!
You nailed it. For those of us in the hard-working-class, the previous administration was head and shoulders better than this one. If you aren't nursing on the govt breasts, or chemically removing them, you're likely voting red this year.
